The FAVORITEN Festival is the theatre, dance and performance festival of the independent performing arts scene in North Rhine-Westphalia. It has been held every two years in Dortmund since 1985. It is one of the oldest festivals of independent performing arts in Germany and is aimed equally at people in the city and region as well as at a national and international (professional) audience. The organisers are the NRW State Office for Independent Performing Arts and the Cultural Office of the City of Dortmund.

Over 300 productions from across North Rhine-Westphalia applied for this year’s edition. From this impressive array, thirteen works have been selected; with their diverse artistic styles, perspectives and themes, they invite the audience to take a fresh look at the present and engage in dialogue with one another. Three productions will be staged at the Theater im Depot:
