I Am the (Authy) Way

Up to 60 visitors and three performers share a space without the traditional division between stage and audience. Through silent-disco headphones set to multi-channel mode, they receive distorted spoken prompts, rhythmic instructions and emotional appeals. Voices – ranging from authoritative to poetic – guide their movements and decisions. The space is shaped through a media-based choreography involving sound, video projection (mapping) and the performers’ dance movements. It invites visitors to uncover the mechanisms at work within these interconnections through their own independent actions. Amidst the tension between collective pull and individual action, a choreography emerges that allows authority, empathy and responsibility to be physically experienced.

The underlying media-choreographic setup is based on an audio orchestration engine developed by the VR Dance Club, which combines AI voices, live sampling and projection mapping in real time, so that movement and vocal scores are modulated live during the performance.
