Verzopft

Workshop on performative installation

Combed, plaited, bound: in the performative installation ‘Verzopft’, the act of plaiting hair becomes a search for traces of care, ideals of beauty and social connections. Starting with five bodies, a web of hair, stories and memories grows through the space, gradually taking it over. ‘Verzopft’ explores what braids signify in culture and society, and what they reveal about gender roles, power and female knowledge. Anyone who wishes to do so is invited to join in braiding the installation and to weave in their own materials or memories.
