Critical Whiteness

An Introduction

We, the team at Theater im Depot, are aware that our work is shaped by white perspectives — both historically and institutionally, as well as in terms of our individual personalities. We acknowledge this and want to learn, through workshops, how to implement cultural work that is critical of discrimination and anti-racist.

The CRITICAL WHITENESS workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to engage with an active anti-racist stance in cultural projects — with a particular focus on white perspectives. We’ll start with the basics and reflect on how racist practices become normalized in everyday life and in cultural work. Using concrete situations and exercises in moral courage, we’ll explore possible courses of action together.

We invite you to join us for six sessions with Emeyln Yábar starting 12 November until 17 December.
Of course, you may also attend individual sessions.

We’ll meet in the foyer each time.
